Encounter with Blogger - Artist!

It was one of my desires to see how Niall worked....I had started reading his blog and admiring his work after my friend Preeti had mentioned it....

I finally got to see him personally and his wonderful work at his home.
He was kind enough to show my daughters how he made his wonderful pictures!and we were very lucky to have been gifted one of his prints!

Hope you enjoy the small video clipping!

Chinese Painting Classes

Finally I managed to find an art teacher for the girls.
I wanted someone to come home and teach them....and considering the girls skill levels are very different it was extremely difficult to find some one who also speaks English!

Here are a few photos of their first lesson.

Tanya began with Chinese Brush Painting and Riona still with pastels!
Will keep posting their progress say once in a quarter!

Busy with her own creations!

X'mas Celebrations in Taipei

This time I made every effort so that the girls can actively participate in all Christmas related events.
Last time we were just a month here .Moreover thusyear may be the last X'mas in Taipei one never knows...

Tanya took part in a Poster Contest for the Winter Wonderland.

She never won any prize which was quite disappointing but what amazed is her work and determination to see to its completion on time.

Wikipedia

My first contribution to Wikipedia and I am excited I learnt something new today!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointillism

and my two cents worth added in Wikipedia

There is also an advanced level of Pointillism called Hyper Pointillism. There is currently only one known artist who practices this - Niall Young http://www.nialleyoung.com/about_artist.php

Art

Art Gallery

I am neither an Artist nor an Art Lover/Critic/Collector. I do admire simple and beautiful creations!

Of late I have just been acquainted with a lot of artists - Alpana Ahuja - a great friend and a few of them I knew even from my college days! - Preeti

I had a chance recently to visit an Art Gallery by the youngest Artist I have ever met so I really thought it was worth writing a note about her. I was amazed at her works and her first solo exhibition with over 30 unique creations. And she is all of 18…. a school kid (literally) but her paintings speak volumes about her depth and insight and perspective.

I also took the opportunity to take my 7-year-old daughter who loves to draw and have a few guided works to her credit so that she may draw on some inspiration.
Tanya's work

Here is a photograph I manage to take with her in her first solo exhibition inaugration day…

A few other shots of her exhibition-

You can read more details of her in the leading local daily article in “The China Post”The Article

So I encourage all of you to take the time and have a look if you happen to be in Taipei or else you can take a look at her website!

Her Name is Devi Seetharam and her website is www.deviseetharam.com

Oil Painting

Here are two shots of the same picture to give you a feel...please bear with my photography skills!

I was excited to blog a picture of my 7 year old daughter Tanya's first oil painting.
When I found a place that is willing to teach kids I said lets go for it. All materials are provided and the teacher painted the entire picture on a different canvas encouraging Tanya to follow. There was very little spoken as teacher knows no English.

Please post your comment. I thought it was wonderful. A great experience for a 7 year old.And guess I was more excited than she is.

This is Tanya's first attempt at Pencil Sketching...although you will see some color stripes at the end.
I feel proud of the fact that I persisted for almost 2 years at her art lessons.Preeti, she was inspired by your pencil sketch. Alpana - the only art teacher my daughters relate to your comments please.
